Love the Beast - a movie review

Weerd gave a short movie review of a number of movies.  Among them was "Love the Beast" a film by Eric Bana. In it, he chronicles his many year love affair with a Ford Falcon XB Coupe.




Car folks should appreciate it, as it helps convey that sense of love one has for an object that allows us a freedom that wasn't imaginable 100 years ago. The freedom to travel vast distances in relative comfort in short periods of time. The film also conveys the bond people have with their friends over such a machine.

There are some beautiful scenes of Targa Tasmania, where a good portion of the film is shot. Watching an event that receives minimal coverage here in the U.S. is worth the time to view the film. The movie is available on Hulu for viewing as well. It is rated R for language.

Peddlin for dollars

The tour de ShowMe' is a sad panda because it seems in this era of tighter government budgets, Jay (I'm not sure that I'm a crook) Nixon has decided that the money for this event could go somewhere more important.

Now in helping to organize the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood, we have no need of any money from the state to promote our event. Oh sure, some assistance would be nice in promoting the event through state sponsored tourism literature. However, we've not received one thin dime of state money to bring a major motorsports event to the Ozark mountains of Missouri.

In addition to being a gun nut, I have other interests & hobbies. One of them is organizing performance rallies where the likes of Travis Pastrana and Tanner Foust try not to hit trees as they hurtle themselves down one lane gravel roads. Specifically I help organize the 100 Acre Wood Rally Last February as we were running our final course check I was eating breakfast at 'Our Place' in Salem MO. In attempting to put ketchup on my hash browns, I instead put it all over myself, the booth behind me, and the floor to my right. I wrote Heinz about this, relating th now funny story. It wasn't at the time, I stunk like vinegar and tomato sauce for 12 hours. Heinz sent me this. Thank you very much Heinz.
