Nifty video of a F1 car cut in half

I love it when the engineer refers to driver Sergio Perez as just another component.

CSI: Dog Walk

I ran across this from a friend on FB.

A New Hampshire apartment complex is mandating that residents submit pet DNA samples.

It seems that some dog owners are conveniently ignoring the courtesy of removing their dog's waste from the apartment complex. Now, discovering Fido's patty surprise as your walking your dog is not fun. Why anyone would respond to this with anything other than "it's none of your damn business." is beyond me.

And if you should see a ginger in sunglasses with a seriously dramatic look, you know someone is about to be charged with leaving crap on concrete.

Free Book!! Free Book!!

OK, so maybe it is slightly misleading. But the fact is, if you own a Kindle or have a Kindle compatible device; i.e a Smartphone with the Kindle app installed, you can download good egg Ambulance Driver'se-book, En Route. His publisher somehow missed out in providing the book for Kindle users during the original offering and has graciously extended the offer thru 17 January. Hurry up, will ya and download it already. It's free. Well? What are you waiting for? GO!!

Bill Whittle on What We Believe Part 7: American Exceptionalism

Having roughly 5% of world's population and yet, producing 24% of the world's GDP is extremely encouraging, given the regulatory climate that exists here. Were government to get out of the way of business and let it produce, I can see another 10% easy.

Scientifically, we kick ass.   So back off man, we're a nation with a lot of scientists.

I for one welcome our new automotive overlords...

Yeah, right.  The visceral pleasure I receive in being in control of my own automobile has me quite miffed about this.  Not only is it a Prius, with all of that wrongly held smugness that says, "Look at me, I'm saving the environment," it also will drive you there on it's own.

NO. THANK. YOU. You can have your robot car when you pry the gas pedal out from under my cold dead lead foot.

I'm forty years young today.

Fourteen thousand six hundred and ten days ago, I was born in trendy Town & Country Missouri, with a silver spoon in my mouth. As soon as the doctor learned that my parents were from Florrisant, MO., he yanked the silver spoon out and replaced it with stainless steel. I am truly amazed that I've made it this far.

How cool, I share a birthday with this fellow. Fine company indeed. If you're so inclined, toast the aforementioned fellow, for he is far more noteworthy than I.

NO GOOOOOOOAAAAL

NASA, in addition to building bridges with the muslim world by acknowledging their contributions to science are now helping explain, in a scientific way, why the current World Cup soccer ball is aerodynamically unstable.

The ball swerves erratically due to something called the Knuckle Effect which is caused by airflow around the seams.

NASA, helping the muslim world feel better about itself and helping soccer players understand fluid dynamics. Whatever happened to exploring outer space?

If Lightsabers are outlawed....

Wicked Lasers of Hong Kong has come out with a very powerful laser capable of igniting flesh on fire and blinding people.
It looks eerily similiar to the fictional lightsabers carried by Jedi Knights in George Lucas's Star Wars.

Well, now Lucasfilms has sent Wicked Lasers a letter ordering them to cease and desist from marketing this laser. It seems that indeed, lasers are dangerous and someone could get hurt.

It has come to our attention that a company called Wicked Lasers is selling a highly dangerous product out of Hong Kong that is designed to look like a lightsaber from Star Wars. This product is not licensed or approved by Lucasfilm in any way. We have demanded that Wicked Lasers immediately cease and desist their infringing activities. As Wicked Lasers itself admits, this product can cause serious injury to the user and other people. We strongly discourage consumers from purchasing it.

Really? Who would have known? Two things, first, Star Wars is so ingrained into our culture that on a regular basis Star Wars references are used. Does anyone remember Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf calling his top commanders in the first Gulf War his Jedi Knights? So, if someone makes a connection that somehow this laser appears similiar to some fictional weapon, then that falls on the observer. Second, lasers can be dangerous. Even the little laser pointers sold at convenience stores carry a warning. One that can burn skin is right to carry a warning.

Remember, if Lightsabers are outlawed, only outlaws will have.... wait. Wasn't that the whole point of the Star Wars movies, the eradication of the Jedi Knights. Indeed.

New tool for communication from the Top of the Chain bunker

Two Fridays ago, after I was done eating my dinner ( Hot Wings and Fries from Wing Stop, YUM!) I walked into the Sprint store in the same plaza that the restaurant was in. A very nice young lady by the name of Kimberlyn greeted me and inquired how she could be of service.

I informed Kimberlyn that my old phone was in need of replacement. She took one look at my account and said I was eligible for an upgrade. I looked at Blackberrys and regular flip phones. I kept going back to the Samsung Moment. The Moment is one of two of Sprints's offerings of Droid phones.

I settled on the Samsung and started the activation process. After a couple of false starts, Kimberlyn finally got the phone activated.

ZOMG!! I can't believe how I ever got along without it. The phone does everything but wipe the egg off of your face. Hell, there is probably an app for that.
