Nuh-uh, that's unpossible!!
So it seems that a Chicago street thug choir boy was a teensy bit pissed that his mama got hauled away for having guns in the house.
Flamo’s not happy. Standing on the porch of his Englewood home, chilly winter air streaming in through an open front door, the furious and pistol-packing ex-con (by his own admission he’s spent nearly half his 32 years in prison) is vowing revenge. Now how is it that a convicted ex-con has a gun? That's unpossible, especially in Chicago.

Please just don't
It's great when people are excited about the Second Amendment and wishing to share it with others.
However, when someone expresses their non interest in it, don't be THAT guy. It seems the Wild Bill Hickok wannabe had a most negligent discharge and the chunk of lead ended up in the ladies collapsed lung.
You don't win hearts and minds by being a dumbass. And you get what you deserve when you break three of the four rules.

The woman said she told Harp she did not like guns and did not want to see it. She said Harp began spinning the gun on his finger and it discharged.

Did the ATF 'walk" guns across the border to pad statistics?
David Codrea has a line on getting to the bottom of the an important question. It is alleged that the murder of a Border Patrol Agent recently was committed with one of those "walked" guns.

The EPA, under Lisa Jackson, is seeking to ban lead based ammunition. Currently, the EPA is seeking comments on this proposal. This is the same woman who feels that carbon dioxide is a threat to human life, and is leading the charge to regulate it.
The NSSF is urging people to be respectful when submitting their comments.
You can submit comments here.
Of course, it's not quite time yet to saddle up & shoot the bastards, so Tam is holding her snark in check for the time being, but I share her sentiment.
Call, write, pester the shit out of, your local congresscritter as well and express your displeasure in a polite, respectful way. Yeah, you gotta eat some crow to show them some respect, but it might head off this clusterfuck of an idea.

Equating a celebrated tool with lethality
The VPC's Josh Sugarmann is decrying the use of a particular model of pistol that was used by the alleged gunman during last week's horrific shooting in CT.
Sugarmann equates the Ruger SR9c, a pistol named Handgun of the Year, with his view that the firearms industry is producing increasingly lethal firearms.
Sugarmann's ignorance of why compact pistols are a compromise would be laughable, if not for the tragedy he attempts to profit from.
Had the alleged gunman used a Ford Fusion, would Sugarmann bemoan over the Ford's 263 hp V-6 being used to run down one of those killed? I highly doubt it. Perhaps Josh Sugarmann shouldn't ever buy a Ford Fusion, it's **** of the year status might mean he could run someone over someone.

The failure of the first of THE FOUR RULES
It is simple, really, every gun is always loaded and treated as such. For example
MPERIAL, Mo. | An eastern Missouri man is dead after accidentally shooting himself while teaching firearms safety to his girlfriend.
So this gentleman wished to show his girlfriend firearms safety. Good for him, right? Hang on
The shooting happened Friday. Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer told the station that according to witnesses, Looney was demonstrating how to use the different safety mechanisms on several guns. Witnesses told authorities that Looney would put the guns to his head, ask his girlfriend if she thought the gun would go off, then pull the trigger.
I'm confused, was he wishing to teach her firearms safety or how to play Russian Roulette?
The safety mechanisms worked for the first two guns. But the third gun fired. Looney died Saturday at a hospital.
Well, two out of three isn't bad, or in this case, it was for Mr. Looney.

Why, SIg Sauer do you mock those of the southpaw?
Why oh why? You build a gun, like the Mosquito that looks very much, if not identical to your large caliber handguns. It allows those on a budget to train with inexpensive ammunition. You were even thoughtful enough to provide for an ambidextrous safety on the gun. But, as I've stripped the gun down to the frame for it's very first full down scrubbing, I discover that the magazine release may be reversible. So, being the inquisitive guy that I am, I reverse everything around. Bonus points to you Sig for not making this an adventure in miniature tools. The grips are reattached, the slide put back in place, and voila, a magazine is inserted into.... Huh, what the? Why won't this go in all the way? A quick check down the magazine well reveals nothing protruding. A quick check of the magazine shows, ah there it is, the bump on the magazine for the magazine disconnect safety you've so thoughtfully provided. I understand you think I'm super bad ass and would drop my magazine in a scuffle with a bad guy so he can't shoot me without the mag in place. Thank you so much for looking out for me. No really, that's ok, I'll struggle through dropping magazines somehow.

If you're gonna bust, Bust BIG!!!
I play darts sometimes with buddy B. We play 301 and 501. If you're not familiar, you have to zero out your score. If you throw over what is left, you bust and have to wait for your next turn. My theory is that if you're gonna bust, bust big.
This gentleman definitely BUSTED BIG!! Rule Four was most assuredly not followed.

Facing down a hijacker
In a scenario eerily reminiscent of the early stages of Flight 93 one young man took it upon himself to insure his family's and classmates safety. Kaleb Eulls faced an armed 14 year old armed with his brain.
From Kaleb;
"I was just scared for the younger kids and my family that was on the bus," Eulls said. "I was just thinking things out step-by-step as quickly as I could. After we got to the school and watched the tape I just sat there thinking 'what in the world did I just do?' I just thought about what if this would have happened or if this would have happened? It was just crazy."
To say that what he did was a brave act is an understatement. He's very humble about it as well.
How many of us have the presence of mind to see to others safety first? How many of us would look that kind of danger in the face and still be able to act like he did. I won't call him a hero, he's very humble. I will say that whatever happens to him in life, he'll probably be able to cope with it.

That whole 90% thing
Could be correct, if you understand the context of that number. And according to the reports numbers it is 87%, not the 90% that the MSM has latched onto. Mexico provided a very small sample of the weapons it has seized from the Mexican Drug Cartels to the ATF for tracing purposes. Of those weapons traced, 90% of them were traced back to the US. Here is the quote from the article
According to the report, some 30,000 firearms were seized from criminals by Mexican officials in 2008. Out of these 30,000 firearms, information pertaining to 7,200 of them, (24 percent) was submitted to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for tracing. Of these 7,200 guns, only about 4,000 could be traced by the ATF, and of these 4,000, some 3,480 (87 percent) were shown to have come from the United States.
Now criminals are a greedy bunch and would you rather purchase $1,000.00 AR15s
In fact, due to this surge in demand, it is downright difficult to locate many types of assault rifles and certain calibers of ammunition, though a lucky buyer might be able to find a basic stripped-down AR-15 for $850 to $1,100, or a semiautomatic AK-47 for $650 to $850. Of course, such a gun purchased in the United States and smuggled into Mexico will be sold to the cartels at a hefty premium above the purchase price.
Or $100.00 fully automatic rifles?
By way of comparison, in places where weapons are abundant, such as Yemen, a surplus fully automatic assault rifle can be purchased for under $100 on the white arms market and for about the same price on the black arms market. This difference in price provides a powerful economic incentive to buy low elsewhere and sell high in Mexico, as does the inability to get certain classes of weapons such as RPGs and fragmentation grenades in the United States.
So from a certain point of view, 87% would be correct. The entire article can be found here.

Now, I'm not an economist, but even I can see that I'd rather buy a $100 rifle than a $1,000 rifle. Criminals being the greedy people they tend to be, probably see this as well. Oh yeah, the last time I went into my FFL, I asked for that RPG and South Korean hand grenade. He said he'd work on it but don't hold my breath.

We all have to wait til Super Tuesday, Nov 2012
While fiction writers offer up thrillers where the Commander in Chief is in the sights of some world class assassin, here in the real world we all have to wait until 2012. By that I mean going to the polls and exercising our right to a secret ballot. Besides which, that would leave Joeblow Biden in charge.
