Auto Union reviving Eco Fascism

For those not in the know, Auto Union is actually Audi. I refer of course to Audi's superbowl commercial.

The so called Green Police would (will) be met with rapidly accelerating 124 gr lead projectiles should they decide to darken my door for having incandescent light bulbs.

update: I can hear their German counterparts says 'recycled bio degradeable papers, please?!"!"

I think Audi was going for comedy here, and in a manner of speaking it is humorous. But I think the fact that it never occurred to anyone that this is really what the "green movement" is all about really underscores how pervasive this is. How did we let it get this far?

It is these kinds of attitudes and comments that the anti gunners use against us.

If a person knocks on my door to sell me a magazine subscription I am not going to stick my .44 in their face and tell them to leave or they will get their head blown off.

Taupe,

It is part of the culture war. it has nothing to do with gun rights. It has everything to do with incandescent light bulbs being outlawed. It is someone being given a choice of paper or plastic and then being arrested for that choice. And there is a whole world of difference between legitimate commerce of a magazine salesman and some government authority telling me how to live my life and then arresting me if I don't comply. Do you like you electricity? Well, Barack Obama has publicly stated he wants to break the backs of the coal companies. A good portion, of the electricity you and I use comes from a coal burning power plant. Your truck, according to that commercial, would make you a criminal. Don't think for one minute that some watermelon wasn't creaming in his britches over the fantasy of that commercial. The green movement in this country would have you, me and everyone else living in the dark ages. Driving hybrid cars, not eating meat, etc. I could go o. Open your eyes man.

I think you are overreacting quite a bit.

There are many ways to fight government wrong doings. Threatening to shoot somebody is not the best way to get your point across.

No I don't want some government agency telling me I have to use a certain item.

As far as incandescent vs. CFLs the market is taking care of that right now. CFLs out sell incandescent bulbs by a huge margin. I don't believe I have one incandescent bulb in the house in use. I use CFLs purely out of money. They draw less current and lower my electric bill. There was no political content to my last statement.

Was the Audi commercial dumb, yes. I did not get my panties all bunched up over it.
