QOTD - Edward Green

Reliable evidence undoes the folk belief that in the absence of guns, other equally efficient means would produce the same number of homicides and suicides.

A firearm is quite an efficient tool in the right hands. The gun though is a weapon of distance.  Barring bows and arrows, I can't think of another weapon that is wielded with such immediate effect that allows the user such a degree of distance from their intended opponent.

There's my trebuchet but I can't hit the broad side of a barn with it.

Seriously though, iolent crime has gone up everywhere I've seen where the citizens can't be armed.
